PARTNERS IN KENYA

Tree of Lives is blessed to have amazing Kenyan partners that work to empower and inspire children, many of whom come from very challenging backgrounds. One of our favorite people is affectionately referred to as Uncle George. George Odalo is the Executive Director for the Slum Child Foundation and provides education, food and programming to children living in the Kenyan slums, particularly the Korogocho slums. In Nairobi, there are more than 40 areas defined as a slum. These areas are unplanned, lack sanitation services - like running water or sewerage systems - and their residents are largely poor. George and his team bring hope to these kids.

After a full year, he has been granted the opportunity to open the doors once again to his Toto Club, a kids’ club in the slums. The program was given thermometers to use and created hand washing stations for the kids. To maintain social distance they use an open field, where they can engage the children and talk about the good and bad of the past year and how life will be moving forward.

The children have really missed this time with an amazing leader that shows the love of Christ and helps these kids navigate the difficulties of life.
